Over 50’s East Premiership division results Sunday 1st February 2026
The 50’s kicked off their season on Sunday 1st February and arrived in Dundee on a positive manner with everyone up for the day. Unfortunately, It didn’t quite go as well.
Game 1 against Dundee a previous league winner but a team we have a decent record against. However, we lost a goal in the first 30 seconds and had to chase the game from there. Despite the slow start we eventually got into some form and equalised on 10 minutes with Barry Burns getting his debut goal for the club with a nice turn on edge of box and firing past on what is an excellent Dundee keeper who then went onto make several good saves. The game ended 1-1 and a reasonable start to the season.
Game 2 against St James and AGAIN! Lost a goal in the first 30 seconds! The team seemed to struggle with the long through ball to their front man. But we gradually got a foothold in the game and stung the palms of their keeper quite a few times but never finding the net. A dubious “contact” penalty call near the end for St James which they scored probably flattered the effort we put into that game, to come away with nothing was a big disappointment. However, the team were annoyed about the penalty and interpretation of the contact rule. But game ended 2-0
Next up Linlithgow a team promoted from the division below and again we fell behind early on albeit 5 minutes on clock this time. But we had an excellent response from the players where we started controlling the game although contact fouls were starting to interrupt our flow of the game, Stuart Ainslie however, got us back into the game with an excellent shot across the goalkeeper. But with a few minutes to go and some poor decision-making Linlithgow re-took the lead and final score was 2-1.
Our last game was against Forfar the East league and Champions league holders. Despite this they had never beaten Oriam with us having 2 wins and a draw to our name. Unfortunately, that record ended in big style!! However, the first 5 minutes we were unrecognisable as a team that played the first 3 games as we started off on the front foot and were camped in the Forfar half with their keeper making several good saves to keep it goalless. Our passing, moving and decision making were superb and delight to watch. But Forfar eventually got a foothold in the game with us having several contact fouls against us which seemed to rattle our players and disrupt our flow. Forfar hit us with 3 quick goals before Stuart pulled one back, but Forfar then went on to add another couple from the spot (1 contact in the penalty zone and 1 in the box). The game ended 5-1 probably our worse score ever in league football and a massive low for all the boys.
Currently we sit bottom of the table on 1 point and -7 goals the only way is up as they say. We have been in this position before and we are going to need some massive performances in the remaining 3 sets of fixtures to reverse where we are.
