Gordon Dingwall 1973 – 2026

Everyone at Oriam WF was devastated to hear of the sudden passing of our friend and teammate, Gordon Dingwall on 12th March 2026.

Gordon joined our Club just over 2 years ago and loved having the chance to play football again with new friends.

He loved his football and was a massive Red, following both Aberdeen and Liverpool.

Despite his own medical issues, he devoted his life to caring for others as a Senior Registered Nurse.

Our thoughts go to his family and friends at this saddest of times.

Gordon will be sorely missed by all of us at Oriam WF.

RIP Gordon 💔

Oriam WF Xmas Night Out 2026

We’ve booked Baberton Golf Club for our Xmas Night Out on Friday 4th December. More details will follow in due course but in the meantime, please put the date in your diaries.

Walking Group

On 17th February our Walking Group set off from the Riccarton Arms and headed off into the Pentlands visiting Torphin, Clubbiedeen and Torduff Reservoirs before back down for a well deserved lunch at the Riccarton Arms.

Another glorious days weather wise and a great chance for a blether and a laugh along the way.

Defib

On 16th February we took delivery of our own portable Defib. This will complement the existing player safety procedures we have with our Oriam partners and allows us to have a Defib pitch side when playing in tournaments outwith Oriam.

It’s only been possible due to our players support of our Lucky Number Draw – thank you.

The last pool evening of 2025 took place on 16th December at Marcos in Edinburgh. Another great evening was had by all, although not quite matching the excitement of the previous night out when Scotland qualified for WC 2026.

Going in to 2026 the yellow jersey is being worn by Orry Nowosad.

On 14th December, an O70s crew from Oriam led by Les Morrison, headed up to Currie for our third JTG event with Currie FC. A great time was had by all but strangely enough we haven’t had any feedback about the final scores.

Our own Dave Muttitt is part of the squad which has a busy season ahead culminating in the World Cup in Frankfurt in September. It’s an inspirational story and we’re very proud of Dave and his selection for the squad.

As a Club, we’re delighted to sponsor him for the season ahead.

Well done Dave

Xmas Night Out 2025

Our Xmas Night Out at Baberton Golf Club was a huge success. Fantastic venue, and the food and service were both excellent. POTY trophies were awarded to O50 – Ewan Duffy, O60 2025 – Kadry, O60 2015 – Gordon Scott, O65 2025 – Stuart Campbell, O65 2015 – Gordon Scott, O70 – John Martin, Ladies O40 – Amy Pedersen-Wilson.

We also recognised the contributions of Les Morrison and Deric Oliver who have left the Committee after 12 years combined service.

South East Regional O50 Squad

Oriam continues to be well represented at Regional level which is a great credit to our players and a real source of pride for us as a Club.

Pool Club

Our 2nd pool evening was held on 18th November at Marcos. Brilliantly organised by Ken Duncan again, some fantastic pool was on show. We have had some feedback though about one player who had both feet off the ground whilst breaking!!

The evening was rounded off perfectly as Scotland qualified for WC2026 in some style, albeit leaving a trail of bitten fingernails. Under garments were on show but night out rules apply so no identities will be disclosed.

If you’d like to come to the next session, please contact Ken Duncan

South East Regional O60 Squad

It was great to see so many Oriam players picked for the Regional O60 squad, alongside some friends from Hearts who are well known from our weekly social sessions.

Grub Club – Khukuri Nepalese Restaurant

Our Grub Club held their seciond night out on 13th November. Great food and company and another brilliant night out.

The next one will be in January.

If you’d like to be added to the group speak to Emma or Thommo.

Walking Football Scotland Funding

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been given funding of £250 from Walking Football Scotland as part of their collaboration with Scottish Womens Football to encourage more women to stay active and involved in football.

This important funding will be used to support the continued development of Womens Walking Football at our Club.

We’re very grateful for the support and would like to thank the WFS Funding Panel for approving our application.

10th Anniversary Dinner – 30 October 2025

Oh what a night…

Our 10th Anniversary Dinner held at Tynecastle was everything we hoped it would be. Superbly organised as always (massive thanks to all involved particularly Dave Whitelaw and Henry Snedden), the night was expertly compered by Calum Robertson with the entertainment provided by the inimitable Eric Davidson and Tam Cowan.

Over 120 players, family, friends and sponsors joined together for an evening of laughter, friendship and generosity which saw over £4000 raised for our chosen charity Alzheimer Scotland.

Thank you to our main event sponsors Digby Brown Solicitors and our table sponsors Grange Wealth Management and Dickens Lounge Bar.
