Over 70’s East Premiership division results Friday 24th April 2026

We had the privilege of representing Oriam Walking Football Club at Walking Football Scotland’s tribute to Gerry today. In a very moving address WFS recalled Gerry’s great love of the game, his tireless input into football be it WF or Currie FC, and his infectious and unfailing good humour.
Gerry’s wife Lorna and other family members were present for a rousing one minutes applause from the O70s football community, a great many Oriam WF members and what seemed like all of the Oriam staff. Very fitting and I hope of some small consolation to Gerry’s wife and family.
On the playing side we had 3 games;
Dunfermline Dynamos 2 v Oriam 2 (Ken Francey, Paul Hulse)
They scored first from their only dangerous attack of the game before we went 2-1 up with goals from Ken and Paul. Unfortunately we gave away the first of 3 walking penalties today, to allow them to draw very much against the balance of play.
North Lanarkshire 1 v Oriam 0
A tight game of 2 penalties, they scored their’s, our’s was saved by their excellent keeper who earned them a win they probably didn’t deserve.
Hearts 2 v Oriam 4 (John Martin, Paul Hulse x2, Ken Francey)
We were 2-0 up (John and Paul scoring from deep – as per our game plan!) and coasting when we gifted them a free shot at goal which they converted followed soon after by another walking penalty. We rallied however with goals Ken and a penalty from Paul. All round a very good result for us.
In a football sense we could have done better but today that really didn’t matter.

Over 70’s East Premiership division results Tuesday 10th March 2026
Alloa Athletic 2 v Oriam 0
Stenhousemuir 2 v Oriam 1 (Paul Hulse)
Fife Wanderers 2 v Oriam 0
A difficult task faced us as we were missing Gordon Scott, Jean Jumelle and John Martin.
First game saw a 2-0 loss to Alloa – we gave away a contact penalty early on then failure to pickup midfielder, gave them a comfortable victory. We did manage a couple of half chances but they always had another gear.
Stenhousemuir were up next – after they went 1-0 up we came right back into the game with a properly worked goal from Paul Hulse – a low shot into the corner. However we left their centre forward completely alone for an easy conversion. A draw would have been a fairer result.
Third game was against Fife – another contact penalty was given away which Stuart Campbell saved brilliantly with a full length dive to finger tip the ball just past the post. However the team ran out of collective steam and 2 goals from them sealed another loss for us.

Over 70’s East Premiership division results Friday 21st November 2025
North Lanarkshire Council 1 v Oriam 0
Dunfermline Dynamos 0 v Oriam 0
Stenhousemuir 1 v Oriam 0
Our disrupted start to the first half of the season (no goalkeeper as Brian was playing for Tweedvale O70s until they folded) meant we were out of contention from last year’s high of the Champions League final.
Keen to continue our good form in round 3 when we beat the mighty Fife 2-0, we approached our final 3 fixtures quietly confident that we could do well against N Lanark, Stennie (2nd and 3rd in the league) and the most improved team of 2025, Dunfermline.
Injuries (Alan T, Steve H, George C) and holidays to Oz (Jimmy and Tony) gave us a compact squad of Brian S, Les M, Paul H, John M, Ken F, Jean J and Murray S on the day.
First up N Lanark, who we held for 14:30 minutes until a bundled collision led to a foot in the box and a converted penalty. We had chances to score so the last 30 second loss was hard to take.
Next Dunfermline and a tight no scoring match. No complaints, draw as a fair result.
Final match against Stennie, 3rd in the league. An early disputed penalty gave them the lead and they reverted to ‘keep ball’ passing back to their keeper every time they could. However we successfully adapted our game plan to a high press that stopped them troubling us but with all 10 outfield players in the final third, we were unable to get a breakthrough.
2 losses and a draw sounds like a bad day but we can take a lot from the second part of the season and look forward with some confidence to 2026.
